SOFT BAROQUE
KIKO STOOL
DiscoverThe Kiko Stool is a composition of three identical laminated beechwood parts. It appears to be slumped in the rain like a piece of neglected road side chipboard furniture, but is sturdy and well finished. It is a standardised, modular and semi-industrial approach, a single component that can be assembled in many configurations and functions.
About the brand
Soft Baroque was founded by Nicholas Gardner and Saša Štucin who work simultaneously in object design and art. Their Ljubljana-based practice focuses on creating work with conflicting functions and imagery, without abandoning beauty or consumer logic. They are keen to blur the boundaries between acceptable furniture typologies and conceptual representative objects. Bulgarian-born Kiko Kostadinov is a menswear designer based in London. He studied BA Menswear Design and MA Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins, graduating in 2016, later joining forces with Australian designers Laura and Deanna Fanning as joint creative directors of his womenswear line. Kostadinov’s evolving dialogue between the worlds of fashion, art and design includes a collaboration with Moran Moran gallery, numerous photographic publications, and furniture projects with Paradisoterrestre and Soft Baroque.
