Wendy Andreu
Squeeze Vase
DiscoverThe Squeeze series was created during an 18-month residency at CIRVA in Marseille, where Wendy explored glass moulding and casting. Her process-led approach prioritizes form over function: she builds metal structures as moulds for blown glass and experiments with colour combinations to test their strength and compatibility. Embracing the unpredictability of glass, she lets the material shape the outcome, resulting in unique pieces defined by chance in a controlled environment.
About the brand
Wendy Andreu is a craft designer who graduated Cum Laude from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2016. She aims to communicate through materials, discovering surprising outcomes that can be translated into functional design proposals that explore the bridges between matter, people and space in an open way. She currently works in Pantin, developing experimental works as well as commissioned projects for public and private clients. The International Glass and Visual Arts Research Centre (Cirva) is an art centre in Marseille, France that places creation at the heart of its project. Occupying a unique position on the world stage since 1983, it invites artists and designers to work with the material of glass in an atmosphere of total freedom. For MATTER and SHAPE (2025), Wendy Andreu will present her Squeeze Vase series produced during her residency at the Cirva, where she has been researching glass moulding and casting for the past two years. Andreu questions the ways in which we design with waste materials, without wasting materials. In her approach, it is the process that transcends the function of the object and dictates the formal outcome.
