CHAPO CRÉATION
S 11
Buy nowDesigned in 1966, the S 11 chair was born of the desire to create a resolutely innovative piece of furniture based on a pioneering “48×72” assembly technique. The S 11 chair incorporates some of the technical features of the S 10, such as the interlocking system and the stretched leathers that ensure the structure’s solidity. S 11 stands out for the sophisticated aesthetics of the interlaced leathers that reach both sides of the chair, as well as the front and back, making the structure stronger and taller than that of S 10.
The technical complexity of the seat’s interlacing justifies the object’s aesthetic balance as much as its functionality. With its solid appearance, S 11 illustrates the variety of shapes made possible by “48×72” assembly, and is adaptable to almost all Chapo tables and desks. The three “48×72” wooden pieces visible at the corners of the chair and the decision to present the “72” side from the front accentuate the object’s stability and give it an architectural look. S 11 is considered the first truly sculptural chair, a trend that Pierre Chapo subsequently developed for the chairs he designed.
