Launched in 2021, the Guangzhou-based furniture and research project Jianze believes that design has the power to inspire self-expression. The brand continually pushes beyond old standards to redefine the rules of space. By gathering diverse design talents from both local and international sources, Jianze creates inclusive and eco-friendly designs for the younger generation, making home living stress-free and a true representation of individual style.

For MATTER and SHAPE (2025), Jianza has identified the most suitable bamboo varieties for small scale production in south China. The aim is to explore species with unique visual characteristics and structural qualities. The project led by Finnish design curator Ville Kokkonen, involves collaboration with craft masters Wang Rong Long, Hu Zheng Ren and furniture master Yin Hong Qiang, centred around a unique solid bamboo species, “棕竹” (Zong Zhu).
